How It All Began!

 

In May this year (2024), we moved from Vancouver Island to the Salmon Arm Campground in the province of British Columbia, Canada and very soon after this move, we decided we wanted to do something different during the upcoming winter months. 

Once we decided that we were going to launch this new journey, it was almost mind-boggling as to where to start. After mulling over our idea we thought ... you can’t move forward if you don’t get started … so, we connected with friends who traveled throughout the world to get some ideas of where we may want to go. 

At first, we thought we would explore Europe and then over to Southeast Asia; however, we soon realized that we should just focus on one area and do it well … so we chose Southeast Asia. We chose this part of the world because we would be traveling from October to April (yes, 7 glorious months) and the weather would be warmer in that part of the world during that time.

We made some phone calls to local travel agents and kept getting voicemails. We persevered and eventually connected with Alana at Maritime Travel in Vernon and our first question was, “Do you have experience with traveling to Southeast Asia?” She said “Yes” to our question and away we went … we started the planning process.
